About Christmas Market
On 16th December 1982 the Lincoln Christmas Market arrived for the first time in Lincoln’s historic quarter. On Thursday 7th December 2006 the Christmas Market will open for the 25th time, almost 350 stalls will be in Lincoln. It now boasts to be the biggest Christmas Market in Europe; it has won several major tourism awards and is much copied by other cities across the UK. A predicted 160,000 visitors are expected to visit Lincoln and this will bring approximately £10 million into the local economy through direct spend in shops, restaurants, pubs and hotels and indirect with local business suppliers and in publicity. Looking locally, the market is a great opportunity for local business to showcase their products and skills to a huge audience.
